Proposed Equality and Diversity Group Actions – Future

Research/Survey.

  • CIfA look at female sole-traders: How does gender affect self-employment? e.g. no maternity pay or holiday pay?

Provide information.

  • Provide pooled support on equality and diversity for small businesses and freelancers / owner-operators as part of the wider range of HR support that Registered Organisations get from CIfA (also a FAME issue?)
  • A central place where individuals/companies (employees and employers) can ask, query or discuss issues around disabilities:
    • Employment
    • Being a disabled employee
    • Health issues sustained at work

Develop training.

  • This could be very hard, but if the Equality and Diversity Group was to arrange training that isn’t just for existing members (preaching to the choir). So, either to gain a commitment from trainees and their employer that the trainee will cascade knowledge from training to all or arrange for a range of people to attend: Trying to reach those who might not feel this is relevant to them
  • More of this sort of thing [workshops, training events, conferences]

Encourage links between organisations and groups.

  • Make it relatable
  • Make it relevant!

Campaign.

  • Have disability representation which can address the policies’ processes
  • Carry on the discussion

Promote ethics both inside and outside the industry.

  • Strong standards on ethical internships
  • Ensure that internships are open and/or supported: mot the preserve of the perceived elite.
